Today I ran 7 miles with Scott, Joe and Boston. It was great to run with a group instead of just myself, which I usually do on Saturdays. I had been feeling pretty flat recently, but today felt pretty good.

Today we did a half mile warm up. After we did our calisthenics and did 6 miles on the trail. I felt pretty good a little pain in my right shin, but nothing bad.  We then did 8x100 meter strides and tabata.

Today we did a half mile warm up followed by calisthenics. We then did a 7.8 mile run averaging around a 7:44. It felt pretty quick and I was a little tired during the run. My right leg was bugging me a little before the run, but felt good after I warmed up. We did 8x100 meter striders and plyometrics after.

Late night run after getting back from Salt Lake. Unfortunately had to run on the roads because it was dark. Right below my knee has been kind of bugging me but it only hurts after runs. I was glad to get the run done!!

Today we did a half mile pre warm up. After we then ran two miles together as a team to warm up. We did a few striders before the Vo2 Max and 2 more laps. I was a little nervous because I haven't done speed for a while and my left leg has been bothering me a bit. It went better than expected. Good news is the leg felt good and altogether I felt really good. I still wish I was farther up but I know I can do better next time!

Today we ran 9 miles on the trail. I felt a little flat. When we were about half way we stopped to help some kids whose truck got stuck in the sand. Thanks to the five pound weights we have have been lifting we were able to get them out. I felt better on the way back.

Today we did a two and half mile warm up. After we did a 15 minute tempo run. According to my watch I averaged a 5:58. We did a cool down run to get us around 7 miles. After we did core and stretch. My new shoes should get here by the end of tomorrow!!

2.5 Mille warm up today. Then we did probably one of my favorite workouts. It was 20 seconds hard and ten seconds easy for ten minutes. Coach played music to let us know when to start. We cooled down 2 miles after and did some tabata to top it off.

Today I did a 2.5 Mile warm up. We also did some drills that I think will really help us.  We did a Kosmin test to help predict our mile times. It actually went a lot better than I thought it would.  I was so glad to be done with the workout, but then coach said we had more that he didn't tell us about!! They were 300 meter progression finishes. I was pretty tired, but I made it. We cooled down a mile and half, stretched and did core to top it off. All in all it was a pretty good day. Oh and we went to Einstein Bagels which was a real treat!!

Ran an easy 3 miles in the morning. In the afternoon we had a tempo run. We warmed up 2.5 miles to the starting place. We started the tempo run a little slower than our goal pace but worked up to it. I liked the way it felt. I hardly looked at my watch during the run, but just focused on staying with the group. Me and Scott went for 18 minutes and averaged around a 5:49. We cooled down back to the cars.

Luckily once we got going I warmed up a bit and was able to have a decent workout. Afterwards a couple of the sophmores jogged on the turf until the rest of the boys finished. I hit the first one at 5:18 second at 5:21 and third at 5:26. Scott and I jogged on the turf afterward until the rest of the boys were done with their workout. We cooled down 1 mile.

Ran 10.5 miles today. Started with a half mile warm up and calesthenics. The workout was originally going to be on the track, but because there was a soccer tournament we did it out on the roads. The workout was 4x1 mile repeats. I hit the first one in a 5:22 and that is when I knew it was going to be a tough workout. The next one was partially uphill and I hit it in a 5:44, 3rd was a 5:33 and fourth was a 5:52. We cooled down back to the highschool and did 4x200 repeats.

Today i did the Dogtown half marathon. As a team we jogged a little before the race to warm up. Coach wanted us to progress during the race so we eased into it going around a 6:30ish to start. I was able to stick with the group until about mile 8/9 and then they dropped me. I was not on cloud nine at mile nine. Overall I finished the race in a 123:25, which according to my watch (which could be off) was an average of 6:22 per mile. Last year I ran it and I got a 137:18 so I am happy with the improvement. I jogged around a little after the race to cool down and hurried off to work.

Today in the morning I went to a spinning class. It was hard. I was sweating so much and my shirt was soaked when I was done. I didn't do any of the stand up parts because I didn't want to put pressure on my leg. In the afternoon I went and swam laps for around 30 minutes. I also did 3x 200 minutes (approximately) treading water with no arms.

Today I worked at Coach Madsen's house. I felt like such a man! We removed a tree and carried some gravel and stuff. Later in the day I went to the Summit and biked for 24 miles (according to the machine) and swam 32 laps ( 25 yards a lap) and finished up with a 10 minutes of treading water with no arms.

In the afternoon I did a 2.5 mile warm up. We then did a few striders and started our workout. Coach had me do 6 400's as I am just getting back into the swing of things. I hit my time I believe on the first four (1:11). The last two I was a little slow. I was happy to be able to do the workout and am excited to get going. Leg bugged me a little today, but it is getting bettter. I am lined up for a massage tomorrow. Grateful for great coaches and teamates. This morning I woke up at 6:00 and went to the Summit. I hopped on a treadmill and did 30 minutes of quicker pace walking at the highest incline it would go. I got a massage before school. It went okay, but I would probably go to a different place because it didn't really losen things up. In the afternoon I ran an easy 6 miles. Leg still bugged me. I was able to do the mileage and breathing wise felt good, but my leg is still healing.

This morning I went to the summit and walked on a treadmill at a high incline for 30 minutes.

In the afternoon I ran 4 miles on the turf and my leg felt a lot better than yesterday. Today I didn't feel like I was limping and felt pretty good. Big jump from yesterday! After I stretched until my dad could come and give me a ride to the Summit. I then swam for 45 minutes there (five of those minutes were treading water with no arms). Grateful for great parents that can give me rides.

In the morning I biked for 30 minutes at the Summit. After I did a few push ups and some core.

In the afternoon I felt the best I have in a while. My leg gave me little to no pain and I was able to run a solid almost 6.5 miles. I started with a half mile warm up and then did calisthenics. I ran    4.4 miles on the turf. After when the rest of the team was doing 200's I ran another 1.5 miiles. After practice I went to the Summit and took a swimming pre test for my lifeguarding class. It was a great day today and I am excited for tomorrow!

In the afternoon we left to Hurricane for the race. I didn't race because of my leg, but I jogged around on the turf while the team ran. It was fun to watch and exciting to start the track season. After the boys did their race I did a two mile tempo run with the team (they went 3) and averaged a 6:06. Cooled down afterwards.

Ran 6 miles in the morning, but didn't get the full mileage because my family went to watch my brother run in Las Vegas. That was really fun and I was able to get my last two miles for the day cooling down with my brother and a few of his teamates. It was really cool because we watched planes spell something in the sky. We also went to Sweet Tomatoes and that is always a good day.

This week I have a lifeguarding class (8 to 3ish) so I won't be able to make it to practice all week. On the bright side I am learning how to save people from wetness. After life guard training I did the workout doing a 2 mile warm up and 8x1 minute fartleks. Leg felt good! I cooled down 2 miles afterwards. Leg is feeling good so I am going to start implementing my easy morning runs.

Ran an easy 3 miles after life guard training. I am now a certified life guard!!!! I ate dinner and fell asleep after. I woke up at ten and stil had to do my workout. I had a hard time getting out the door but I did it! I did 10x30 seconds hard (same recovery). Maybe it was the darkness, but I felt like I was flying. Cooled down afterwards.

In the afternoon we did a .5 mile warmup and then calisthenics. After we did a 2 mile warm up and 4 striders. We did 3x1000 and I hit my times on all of those (3:21, 3:27 3:29). We then did 4x400 I hit the first one, but it was all down hill from there. I finished with a 300 and a mille cool down. Good news is my leg didn't hurt, but I could feel where it had been hurting. I just need to continue watching it. In honor of coach's greatness quote I watched some Space Jam (one of the greatest of them all) as I iced at night.

In the afternoon I did a 2.5 mile warm up. On the warm up I accidently tripped and kind of landed hard. Unfortunately I landed on my knee that has been bugging me (talk about insult to injury!) We did a few striders and then started the workout. Started with 4x400 (1:08,1:09, 1:09, 1:10. We then did a 800 which I struggled with (2:30) We did 3x400 after 1:09 1:09 and 1:10. We ended with 4x200 and cooled down a mile. Leg felt good during the workout, but started to bug me afterwards.

Today I was able to race at BYU! What a great experience. I thought it was super cool to be able to race on the track. I can't believe I ran there because I remember watching my brother run at BYU and never planning on running. I did a 2 mile warm up. I was able to do a few strides on the track before the race. I thought it was pretty cool walking to the starting line from the bull pen. The race went okay not great, but I still pr'd with a 4:47. I felt kind of flat during the race. This track season has gone faster than any of the other seasons and I can't believe it is almost over. I am excited for region.

Today was region!! I am not exactly sure my mileage, but I ran the 1600 and 3200. I was ok with my mile race, but not super pleased with it. I hit my pr a 4:47 and came in third place. It was cool because Spencer,Sage and me took top three. For the 3200 I was surprised at how well I did. I was feeling pretty tired before but ran around a 20 seconnd pr. I took first place and hit a 10:24. My last 200 was probably one of my better 200s. It was a good season.

What a day!!! Woke up at 4:20 in the morning to get back from EFY for work at 10. Luckily I was able to sleep in the car for a little while. When I got to work it was my first day as a lifeguard. It went pretty well. I got home around 8 oclock and was super tired and hungry. I ate dinner and laid on the couch and fell asleep for a while. I woke up around 10:30. I was really tired, but was able to make it out the door. I did 6 miles easy on the roads.

Man that's straight up dedication. I'm way impressed. Cedar's also got quite the group of juniors. Unfortunately they are a wee bit less dedicated. I have to beg a couple to come out consistently. They have yet to accept the dry life. That kind is dedication is gonna make you an incredible runner. Sick with it.

On sunday my family traveled to California. We finally reached California around 2:30 in the morning and since we were travelling I did not eat the best. This made for a rough morning run. I was supposed to do hill repeats, but I wasn't exactly sure where a good hill was, so I flipped my workout to Tuesday and did an easy run with my bro. We ran 8 miles at a 7:35 per mile.

8.5 mile run with my bro. We ran out about 2.5 miles and then started the hill repeat workout. We did 8 by 45 second hill repeats. The hill wasn't as killer as Webb hill so I shortened the recovery to 2 minutes. We cooled down back to camp.

PM I am a little disappointed because there was no time for an afternoon run. We were walking around quite a bit though and I am hoping to make up a few miles on Friday or Saturday.

Afternoon I came home from school and I felt really tired (I was falling asleep in psychology). I took about an hour nap before getting ready to go to the park. Got to the park warmed up with the team. I ran about a mile loop for the race. I felt alright, but still know I can do better. It was fun to do a relay. Afterwards my stomach started bugging me, but after awhile it felt better. We did 3x5 minute cruises afterwards. Legs felt heavier than I wanted them too and I am going to try and get to bed earlier to help with recovery. Great kids on the team and I look forward to the rest of the season.

PM- Today we were scheduled to go run at BHNP, but the there was some lightning outside. We ran inside the school for about 20-25 minutes before going over to the park. At the park we did a 2 mile time trial. I finished in an 11:32 (it ended up being a little over 2 miles) Still not quite where I want to be, but I am moving in the right direction. A possitive I can take away from today is that I felt like I had energy and didn't feel super flat. We had 6 finishes after the time trial and cooled down a mile afterwards. Great work from the guys today!
